Run a Draft Offline in Bravara

Modified on Sun, 21 Jun at 1:21 AM

Bravara is built so draft day can continue even when Wi-Fi or cellular service is weak. Draft picks save on the admin device first, then Bravara updates the rest of the draft when the device is back online.

The most important thing is to keep one admin device as the official draft device during the draft.

Before the draft starts

  1. Choose one admin phone or tablet as the official draft device.
  2. Open the draft on that device before the room starts making picks.
  3. If possible, connect that device to strong Wi-Fi or cellular service. Bravara can still keep the draft moving offline, but a connection keeps coach screens updated automatically.
  4. Tell coaches that if their screen looks behind, they should follow the official draft device or the pick announcements from the draft lead.

When the admin device is offline

If the admin device shows Offline Mode, keep drafting on that same device. Picks are saved on the device and will save to Bravara when service returns.

  1. Keep the draft screen open on the admin device.
  2. Continue entering picks from the admin device.
  3. Use the number of changes shown in Offline Mode to see how many changes still need to be sent to Bravara.
  4. When service returns, keep the app open until the Offline Mode notice goes away or Bravara shows that the changes are caught up.

What coaches may see

Coach and web views may not update automatically while the admin device is offline. The draft can still continue.

  1. If a picked player still appears in a coach's available players list, the coach can tap the player to open their details.
  2. At the bottom of the player details screen, tap Remove from Available Players.
  3. Continue following the official draft device or the draft lead's announcements for the current pick.

If a coach's device is offline

That coach may see an older draft board until their device reconnects. They can keep following the draft lead's announcements and refresh or reopen the draft when service returns.

When service returns

Bravara updates the draft automatically.

  1. Keep the admin device on the draft screen until the Offline Mode notice goes away or Bravara shows that the changes are caught up.
  2. Have coaches refresh or reopen the draft if their screens still look behind.
  3. Before finalizing, check rosters on the admin device and make sure the draft looks complete.

Before finalizing

Finalize only after the admin device is back online and the draft changes have saved to Bravara. If the admin device still shows Offline Mode, keep the draft open until it catches up.
