Use channels when a group of people should share the same conversation. Examples include announcements, board members, coaches, a division, or a team.
Create a channel
- Open Chat from the Communication section of the left navigation.
- At the top of the chat list, click the # + icon. The tooltip says Create channel.
- In the Create a channel window, enter a Name.
- Add a Description if members need to know what the channel is for.
- Optionally click Upload image to use a custom channel image.
- Click Next.
- Choose Private or Public.
Choose private or public
Private means only specific people can see and use the channel. Choose this for board, admin, or coach-only conversations.
Public means anyone in the organization can find the channel. Choose this for broad league conversations, announcements, or channels people may join themselves.
Edit channel details
- Open Chat.
- Click the channel you want to manage.
- In the top-right area of the channel header, click the gear icon. The tooltip says Channel settings.
- Edit Channel name, Description, or the channel image.
- Click Save.
If you do not see the gear icon, you may not be a channel admin.
Add people to a channel
Open the channel and click the people icon in the top-right area of the channel header. You can also click Add people to channel if that button appears in an empty channel.
Archive a channel
Open Channel settings from the gear icon. If archiving is available for your role, use the archive option there. Archived channels no longer appear in the active channel list, but an admin can reopen them later.
